You might find it well worth your time and effort to visit you local planning office early in your planning and design phases. Knowing what is planned in the future could save time, money and work. For example, finding out that your street will be widened in two years could prevent you from undertaking a major landscaping job or installing a new driveway now. Or finding out that an area behind your home is being rezoned for commercial development may convince you to move rather than remodel.
