Tip #415: Learn from the Remodeling Projects of others

Think carefully about what things are involved in your project whenever you are remodeling or putting in an addition. Then take the time to think about others who have renovated before, are renovating now or are putting in additions. In the same way that you have to get rid of certain items involved in your project, others will need to do that as well. Put out the word among these kinds of people and attempt to buy or trade any items they are disposing of that you actually need. You will likely get a great price. You might even find someone who will give away the items if you’ll just come and get them. This is an ideal approach to finding key items, especially if you are getting items from a place with the same architectural style or same period of time as yours.
