Tip #15: Educate Yourself

The more you know when planning a remodeling project or a home addition, the better your project will proceed and the more money you can save. You don't need to be a contractor or a builder to learn enough to watch the details and find ways to reduce cost. Learn all you can about how projects are done. Learn about the varieties of materials available for each part of your project. Learn about material quality categories. The more you know, the better you will understand suggestions from contractors. The better you understand their suggestions, the better your decisions. You can learn everything you need to know by visiting your local library and checking out a few books, or by visiting a few websites that offer valuable information, or by asking questions of contractors, sales associates in building supply stores, or by sending me an e-mail on questions I have not yet answered on my website. Just visit www.remodelestimates.com and send me your question.
